Levi

Levi was found covered in SEVERE open wounds that were filled with writhing maggots. He was rescued just in time and after a few months of recovery, has fully healed and is ready for his forever home! Read on to learn about how his remarkable transformation was made possible thanks to YOU! 

Levi's journey began when we discovered him on the brink of death with horrific, gaping wounds across his skeletal frame. Maggots were eating him alive, digging deep into his flesh and draining him of energy. He was so frail and cold that it seemed he might not survive even an hour longer. Fortunately, we managed to intervene just in time. Levi was immediately rushed to the hospital where medical staff used heating pads to stabilize his critically low temperature. 

His first cleaning, conducted while Levi was sedated, revealed the full extent of his condition. Despite his weakened state, Levi fought on, exhibiting an unbreakable will to live. As soon as he was strong enough, medication was administered to expel the remaining maggots, and continuous emergency examinations followed to decipher the next best steps. 

Through meticulous care, Levi began responding quite well. His fragile skin, likely afflicted by Demodex scabies, was thoroughly treated, and slowly started improving. As each day progressed, so did Levi’s condition. He began showing interest in food and gained healthy weight steadily; an impressive 5.5 pounds. Levi’s wounds, once severe enough to expose his spinal bones, started healing, amazing us all! However, a surgical procedure was necessary to close them completely and eliminate the risk of infection.

A couple of weeks later, Levi had his pivotal surgery performed to close his back wound and was also neutered. Post-surgery, Levi showed a lot of improvement straight away. His skin condition continued to get better, revealing a happier and healthier pup beneath the horrific state he was found in. His fighting spirit left us all in a complete state of awe and moved us to tears. We were just so happy for him, and beyond grateful that we were able to provide him the care he desperately needed.

By May 21st, Levi's back wound had completely healed! He is still undergoing treatment to target the papilloma in his mouth, which was caused by contaminated water. Otherwise, he is only continuing to get better and better! Now on the lookout for his forever home, Levi’s soulful eyes are filled with a beautiful light and he wags his tail happily, soaking in his new life.
