Thanks to you, Daryl, a big, fluffy sweetheart, is finally home. After a challenging few years, this two-year-old pup will never experience pain like that again. Read on to discover how his beautiful life came to be.

Daryl’s journey wasn’t easy. He was passed between multiple homes—some careless, others well-meaning but unequipped to give him what he truly needed. Sadly, he was always the one left behind. Eventually, he found himself abandoned in rural Texas, left to survive on his own for months. Despite the odds, Daryl held on. But he was crumbling.

Thankfully, a kind woman with a heart of gold stepped in. Though living with her own disabilities, she took Daryl in and did everything she could to care for him, including trying to treat a painful eye condition that had clearly been ignored for too long. Knowing he needed more help than she could give, she reached out far and wide, and one of our amazing partner rescues answered the call.

First, we took Daryl to the vet, where it became clear just how much discomfort he had endured. He needed an enucleation to remove his damaged eye and finally be free of the persistent agony. He also needed antibiotics for complications from a past neuter surgery and intensive care for a troubling ear condition that, if left untreated, could have resulted in permanent hearing loss. Our vet mentioned the possibility of a tube removal surgery to mend his ears… we hoped that wouldn’t be the case.

But Daryl is a fighter. With the help of his rescue team, a loving foster home (with some precious kitty friend), and plenty of medical support, things finally started to turn around. His eye healed, his ear began to improve, and—best of all—he didn’t end up needing the surgery we feared would be inevitable. Instead, he had a major ear clean-out (which he had to be sedated for) and was feeling much better in no time!

As he recovered, Daryl's true personality began to shine. The goofy boy became a star at adoption events, winning over everyone with his gentle nature and loving heart. And then, the moment we’d all been waiting for: Daryl found his perfect match.

Today, Daryl is thriving in his forever home with another gentle giant as his sibling. He's finally surrounded by love, stability, and the safety he always deserved.
