Delphine's transformation is simply remarkable, and her story will surely touch your heart. She once endured unimaginable cruelty, living outside and being treated like her well-being meant nothing, and now she is thriving in a loving home. Her story may begin in one of the darkest places, and may be quite triggering to some, but it ends so beautifully that we are continuously moved to tears.

Delphine was discovered in the midst of an animal cruelty investigation, where she had been subjected to horrifying abuse for quite some time. As a breeding dog, Delphine had endured constant suffering at the hands of her previous owner. In a cruel attempt to restrain her, the owner pierced her neck and threaded a chain through her flesh, soldering it without any anesthesia to prevent her escape. Every day, Delphine lived in unimaginable pain, bleeding profusely from the open wound, with her body and spirit broken by the abuse.

Her condition only worsened over time. Due to relentless breeding and neglect, Delphine’s uterus prolapsed. Instead of seeking help, her owner poured bleach on the prolapse and brutally shoved it back into her body. This appalling neglect left Delphine in unbearable agony until fortunately she was seized and transferred to our care, where her pathway to recovery would finally begin.

The moment this sweet girl arrived at the emergency vet, the embedded chain was carefully removed, and she underwent intensive medical treatment to address her severe injuries. Pain management and antibiotics were administered to help her body heal from his heartbreaking ordeal, while the veterinarians tended to her gently and carefully, assessing each and every one of her needs. Our team worked round the clock, doing whatever possible to ensure this precious girl felt safe, tended to, and loved.

Delphine needed to heal both physically and emotionally. The level of trauma and abuse she endured is simply unfathomable, and so we knew that it would likely be a while until she felt truly comfortable around humans. Slowly, Delphine learned to trust again, and the sight of us brought a wide smile to our faces. With patience and affection, her foster family helped her understand what it means to be treated with kindness. Every day, Delphine’s spirit brightened, and she began to seek human attention and affection.

After weeks of recovery, Delphine reached the most joyful milestone—she found her forever home!
