Brussel Sprout

After an uphill battle filled with heartache, hope, and unwavering determination, we are overjoyed to announce that Brussel Sprout, our beloved Micro Bully, has triumphed against all odds. Born with a cleft palate and later suffering from life-threatening aspiration pneumonia, his journey has been anything but easy. But through every obstacle, this little warrior proved just how strong he is.

Brussel Sprout’s battle began when he was just two weeks old, fighting chronic pneumonia that scarred his lungs. Despite countless antibiotics and emergency surgeries, his condition continued to worsen. When we thought time was running out, our team transported him to Texas A&M for specialized care, where he underwent emergency surgery. The operation, fraught with risks, temporarily closed his cleft palate, buying precious time to heal his fragile lungs. His journey through critical care was touch-and-go, and though his lungs struggled post-surgery, he began to show signs of recovery, with his resilient spirit leading the way.

Weeks passed, and although Brussel’s fight was far from over, he began to reclaim his health. The once gasping, snot-filled pup was now eating, barking, and even playing. His lung X-rays showed marked improvement, and his splinted leg slowly grew stronger. The challenges remained—an NG tube, splints, antibiotics—but his spirit never wavered.

Brussel’s second surgery to permanently close his soft palate came with complications, including an aspiration during anesthesia. But this brave boy pulled through once again, wagging his tail and spreading joy to every person who cared for him. His soft palate was successfully repaired, and his hard palate will be fixed once he’s six months old. Through it all, Brussel has stayed strong, and thanks to your generous donations, we were able to give him the life-saving treatments he so desperately needed.

And now, with the hardest surgeries behind him and his health restored, Brussel Sprout is off on the adventure of a lifetime. He has found his forever home in beautiful Montana, where he will live the happy, healthy life he’s fought so hard for.
