For thirteen grueling days, Simba fought for survival due to a severe intestinal blockage. But fortunately, he has since overcome this terrifying time and is now safe in his forever home. Saved by critical surgery, Simba has officially begun his beautiful new life—read on to learn more.

Simba, a beloved three-year-old cat, endured a harrowing episode that placed him on the brink of life and death. After being adopted alongside his sister, he found sanctuary in a loving home. However, in early May, Simba began exhibiting alarming symptoms: continuous vomiting, severe abdominal pain, and a worrisome loss of appetite and energy. His family reached out to Heavenless Rescue in hopes that we could assist them during this time, and of course, we said yes.

However, the situation took a grave turn on May 11th when he started vomiting blood. Simba was rushed to the veterinary hospital for an urgent examination, which revealed a life-threatening intestinal blockage. We met up with his family, determined to do whatever we could to save their cherished new pet. But the situation initially seemed quite bleak.

For nearly two weeks, Simba stayed in the hospital, and his condition was stabilized through continuous medical intervention. The blockage, identified as a string-like material, required immediate surgical removal. (The material seemed to be similar to dental floss, which the owners did not keep in the house.) As the vet bills mounted, we were blown away by the support this sweet kitty received. The community rallied with heartfelt support to help make the expensive yet life-saving surgery a possibility.

On the 14th day, the surgeon's skillful hands performed the critical operation, lasting an intense four hours. Simba was slow to recover from anesthesia, with a precarious fever threatening his early recovery hours. But the medical team carefully tended to his fluctuating condition to ensure he made it through okay. Over the critical 24-hour period following the surgery, Simba's resilience shone, and he gradually overcame the fever and responded well to post-operative care. He had officially bounded back from the blockage that had previously plagued him.

With each passing day, Simba grew stronger. His loving family welcomed him back home, where he continued his recovery amidst a nurturing environment. His spirit remained undeterred, and his zest for life returned, marking the end of a remarkably challenging journey and the beginning of a healthy and bright future.
