Living behind their owner's house, they were confined to a tiny, filthy space without the basic necessities of food or water. Their coats became severely matted, and their health deteriorated day by day as worms and ticks infested their bodies. The owner witnessed their suffering but chose indifference over empathy.

Finally, these poor pups were rescued, marking a turning point in their lives. When they were discovered, they were severely underweight and deeply ill. Ricota suffered from glaucoma, necessitating the enucleation of her eye, and she also experienced pyometra, which demanded urgent surgery. Parmesão faced malnutrition and an enlarged prostate, exacerbated by ticks that crowded around his genital area.

Once under veterinary care, Ricota and Parmesão began their journey of healing. Ricota's eye surgery was a success, and she recovered well, clearly enjoying this newfound relief from the formerly constant pain. She also underwent treatment for pyometra and gradually regained her strength. Parmesão’s treatment focused on overcoming his severe malnutrition and addressing his prostate concerns. Both dogs underwent a meticulous regimen to rid them of parasites and support their recovery. They were both on beautiful paths toward their new lives!

As their health improved, it was clear they were ready to find their forever homes. Before long, their journeys came to a wonderful end when they became a part of loving families. Interestingly, while in foster care, their caregivers noticed that Ricota and Parmesão thrived best when separated. Ricota found a loving home with a gentle companion, and Parmesão was equally lucky, joining a family that had a playful friend that complimented his lively nature. Their transformation was complete as they settled into these loving environments, leaving their painful past behind.
