Flora & Sindi

Initially found struggling on the streets, scurrying away from speeding cars, and resorting to food scraps for survival, this mother-daughter duo had a challenging start to life. Fortunately, their tough days are far behind them, and they have secured their forever home together! Read on to learn about their incredible transformation and find out how their lives were turned around from despair to pure joy.

Flora, a pregnant mama dog, was once found shielding her sick puppy, Sindi, amidst the chaos of a busy roundabout. Both fragile, emaciated, and in desperate need of help, they clung to life, covered in mange and plagued by fleas and ticks. Destined for a heartbreaking outcome, their fate miraculously changed when they were narrowly rescued by our incredible volunteers and rushed to a veterinary clinic. 

Upon their arrival at the clinic, the medical team immediately began comprehensive medical tests and treatments for both pups. Sindi, the puppy, battled severe diarrhea despite testing negative for life-threatening conditions like parvo and gastroenteritis. The veterinary staff implemented a detailed treatment plan for her gastrointestinal issues and started her on antifungal and mange therapies.

Flora, whose persistent cough needed careful medical attention, slowly improved under the vet’s diligent efforts. As her health stabilized, plans for her spaying were put into place to ensure she would not face further pregnancies. In the meantime, they were placed in a paid foster home, carefully awaiting their beautiful second chapters just ahead. 

The only problem was that around this time, we found ourselves struggling with debt, propelling us to launch a CUDDLY campaign and seek support from our community. We had accumulated $480 in vet bills, an outstanding balance looming overhead like a dark cloud, and the foster home cost us $215 each month. Yet, we held onto the hope that we would receive the funds necessary to help see these poor girls through their harrowing ordeals.

Over the following weeks, some good news came: Flora's cough cleared entirely, and Sindi's diarrhea finally ceased. With targeted mange treatment and consistent care, Sindi began to regrow her fur, fully transforming her appearance. Both mother and daughter showed impressive progress, gaining much-needed weight and radiating health and vitality. We are just so proud of them, of their unwavering bravery and resilience through this trying time.

Eventually, their journey came full circle. Not only had Flora and Sindi healed physically, but they also found the warmth of a forever home, adopted together by a loving family willing to take them both. Their heartwarming reunion marked a new chapter filled with love and safety, signifying the magnificent journey from hardship to happiness. And, through the support of our community, we were able to aptly pay off our bills so that these girls could truly begin anew, with nothing holding them back.
