We are delighted to announce Bonnie and Jerrie’s adoptions! Our team can’t wait to see what their new beginnings will bring—but first, we want to take a moment to reflect on their rescue journey.

As our long-time followers know, Bonnie and Jerrie had a rocky start to life. Abandoned in the woods of Cleveland, Texas, Bonnie and Jerrie fought to survive—dodging predators, enduring brutal heat, and living in constant fear. Locals fed them and tried to help, but the sisters were too scared to get close.

And then, the worst happened. Hurricane Beryl ripped through Texas, destroying land and lives. Bonnie and Jerrie went missing. For two long, agonizing days, the people who fed these sisters searched the woods. Miraculously, with the help of a skilled trapper, the dogs were found—alive, shaken, but safe.

Realizing they needed more support, Bonnie and Jerrie’s rescuers reached out to us. We agreed to help, and placed the girls with a selfless foster who gave them shelter, food, and love despite losing power and nearly her entire home in the storm.

While the pups rested and enjoyed steady meals—likely for the first time in their lives—our team got to work raising funds for their care. Thanks to the generous support of our CUDDLY family, we were able to secure spay procedures and the vet appointments that allowed them to start their journey to recovery. But healing wasn’t just physical. Bonnie and Jerrie had to learn to trust.

Bonnie and Jerrie were feral dogs, and they weren’t sure how to behave around people. We feared this would be a massive obstacle in their adoption process. Their amazing foster offered them so much, but we had to move them somewhere where they could socialize with more people and other dogs.

As we were planning their new foster placement, something beautiful happened. There was a family that wanted to adopt Bonnie! Our team was ecstatic. Bonnie packed up and went to her forever home in Wisconsin, where she met her new mom and sibling. Slowly, Bonnie learned to trust her mom, even taking food from her mom’s hand—a small but meaningful step toward building their bond. A few months after Bonnie was adopted, it was Jerrie’s turn to celebrate. Jerrie connected with a loving family in Connecticut, who embraced and cherished her spirited nature.

Thanks to your compassion, these adoptions were possible. You not only saved Bonnie and Jerrie from a harsh life in the rural wilderness, but gave them a second chance at happiness. We hope you know that your contributions through CUDDLY truly make an impact and that, as a result, dogs like Bonnie and Jerrie are living their dream lives. Thank you so much for believing in these sweet sisters and proving to them that kindness still exists in the world.
