Buddy

When he was just seven months old, this Rottweiler puppy was found limping through the streets with a gruesome leg injury. Miraculously, he was taken to our care, and thanks to hard work, patience, hope, and the remarkable support of our community, he made a full recovery. Discover his inspiring transformation below!

No one knows what Buddy’s past may have entailed. Had he once belonged to a home? Did he get lost? His leg, terribly wounded, dragged behind him. Still, it remains unclear what exactly caused this injury. Whether he was hit by a car or intentionally hurt, we have no idea. Buddy was eventually found, but he was immediately placed in the shelter and tagged for euthanasia. This precious boy wasn't even given a fighting chance. That is, until we came along—we refused to let this sweet pup perish like this.

We rushed to the local shelter, hearts filled with determination, as we hurried Buddy into our care. It was heartbreakingly clear that his leg was causing him immense distress, and we were desperate to free him from his pain. He is such a gentle boy; he didn’t deserve this hard life! We rushed him to the vet to begin immediate treatment. We knew the journey ahead would be far from easy, but that didn't matter. What mattered was this adorable pup got a second chance, a fresh start.

Radiographs confirmed the extent of the injury—it was old and, therefore, beyond repair. Amputation was the only way to save him from pain and turn his life around. We scheduled the surgery, which, thankfully, was an incredible success. From then on, we helped Buddy recover and adjust to being a tripod (having only three legs). We showered him with love and warmth, fed him yummy, nourishing food, and gave him tons of pets and snuggles.

In time, Buddy’s story came full circle: in December, he was loved and adopted by a caring family who vowed to always keep him safe. What a lovely way to ring in the new year, enveloped in love and happiness! We are just so happy for this sweet boy, and we are so grateful that we were able to bless him with a second chance at life. Buddy serves as a reminder that rescue dogs are truly amazing and, just like any other life, deserve an amazing life. ❤️
