Atticus
Atticus has found his forever home! This once-neglected dog, surrendered by a commercial breeder in Iowa, has made an incredible journey from pain to purpose.
After being released by authorities who intervened in an unethical large-scale breeding operation, Atticus came to us with numerous challenges, the most pressing being a painful condition where his eyelashes were growing into his eyes. This caused him constant irritation, infection, and the potential for permanent vision damage.
With the love and care of our rescue, Atticus underwent two successful surgeries to correct his eye condition. The first surgery was performed when he was a puppy, and we covered the cost out-of-pocket to ensure he had the best chance for a bright future. His second surgery helped redirect the eyelash growth, relieving the chronic pain that had been holding him back.
After healing and recovering, Atticus entered our therapy dog training program. With his calm demeanor and loving nature, he passed his Canine Good Citizen test and began practicing for certification with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.
Atticus has now been adopted by a healthcare specialist who will bring him to schools and hospitals, where he will provide emotional support and companionship to children and patients in need. His transformation from a suffering puppy to a thriving therapy dog is a testament to the power of rescue and the incredible impact these dogs can have on others. Thanks to your support, Atticus is now on his way to changing lives, one paw at a time! Thank you so much for your support and for loving Atticus just as much as we do.
