Today, our team is thrilled to announce that Cleopatra—the brave little cat who once teetered on the edge of survival in Cairo, Egypt—has safely arrived in her forever home in the United States! Your generous donations and unwavering support made this remarkable journey possible. But before we celebrate, we want to acknowledge just how much hardship Cleopatra has overcome.

As a kitten, Cleopatra was abandoned on the chaotic streets of Cairo. Cleopatra navigated a world of danger. She dodged cars, stumbled through crowds, and narrowly escaped harm, all without being able to see. Every day was a fight for survival. Then, one day, that fight turned ugly.

While simply trying to exist, a passerby intentionally, brutally kicked Cleopatra in the head. The blow shook her tiny body, leaving her dazed. By some miracle, a kind stranger witnessed the cruelty and leaped to contact one of our partner rescues.

As soon as our team was alerted, we gathered up Cleopatra and rushed her to the vet hospital, where she received emergency care and was later referred to an eye specialist. After a thorough evaluation, the specialist recommended removing Cleopatra’s most damaged eye and undergoing a corneal transplant for the other. It was her only hope of regaining some vision and a chance at a better life.

The road to recovery was long and tedious. Cleopatra spent months in a safe, loving environment where she received round-the-clock care, nourishing meals, and endless affection. Every day, our volunteers administered medication and eye drops. Slowly but surely, Cleopatra began to heal. Not just physically, but emotionally too.

Amazingly, Cleopatra regained partial vision! Though her sight will never be perfect, her remaining eye now functions at about 80%. Our team was ecstatic. This is a stunning victory considering her condition. Cleopatra still needs daily medications and eye drops, but she has come so far from where she started. Today, she is active, curious, and full of life.
