Moira

This adorable Frenchie, Moira, has been adopted! She’s now living her dream life, all thanks to you! But sadly, her life wasn’t always so cheerful. In fact, Moira was found barely clinging to life after being locked in an apartment for three long weeks with no food, no water, and no one to care for her.

The local shelter was notified about Moira and rushed to her aid. By the time they arrived, it was almost too late. She was in a critical state, covered in fleas, and fading fast due to starvation and dehydration. To make matters worse, she had to potty indoors that entire time, and the toxic ammonia of her own urine made her sick.

The team hurried Moira to the shelter, where she received critical care. But that alone wasn’t enough, so they reached out to us, desperate for support. We agreed without hesitation. Once safely with Dallas Pets Alive, we fed Moira nourishing, high-calorie food at careful increments to avoid refeeding syndrome. We bolstered her hydration with IV fluids and ensured she was kept comfortable. Also, her bloodwork indicated some anemia and kidney abnormalities. Poor Moira had a long way to go, but at least she was being taken care of the way she deserved.

Moira was placed in a foster home, where she steadily began to show glimmers of progress! She was gaining weight at a healthy rate, and she walked for the first time by herself—an incredible milestone! Her body was still frail and cold for some time, unable to regulate itself properly. Her foster was extra careful with her, feeding her slowly and showering her with constant love and affection.

Less than a month later, Moira was THRIVING. She transformed into an entirely new dog, full of boundless energy and a beautiful zest for life. She enjoyed the outpouring of gifts—more and more arrived at her door almost every day, thanks to your generous donations! And she absolutely loves playing with toys.

Not long after this, something beautiful happened—Moira was adopted by a loving family. She is now living the life she’s always deserved, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for her. From the moment she was rescued—emaciated, covered in flea dirt, and heartbreakingly weak—Moira has shown us what true resilience looks like! Thanks to your support, she received the critical care she needed to survive, slowly regained her strength, and began to trust again.
