Tank
We have incredible news—Tank, our resilient street survivor, has found his forever home! But before we can celebrate his fresh start, we want to take a moment and honor the long road that brought him here.
Tank was discovered on the streets of Newark, struggling to stand on his own. It took plenty of time and patience, but locals and an EMS crew were finally able to corral him. By the time he was rescued, Tank was skin and bones. His spine jutted out so sharply that it had worn away the fur on his back. New and old injuries marked nearly every inch of his fragile frame. His ears had been crudely lopped off, and inside his mouth, every tooth was ground down, potentially a result of cruel dog fighting. Starved, parasite-ridden, and exhausted, Tank had endured unthinkable neglect.
Our team moved quickly, administering antibiotics, managing Tank’s pain, and starting him on a refeeding program. Slowly, his body began to heal. But it was a moment at the vet clinic that told us his spirit was healing, too. When Tank’s foster dad came to pick him up, Tank sprang to his feet, tail wagging, desperate to give doggy kisses. In that instant, we knew—Tank finally felt safe. And, likely for the first time in his life, he truly was.
In his foster home, Tank blossomed. Gentle. Affectionate. Loyal. Every day, he grew more loving. His story captured hearts far and wide, especially one family searching for a dog just like him. When they read Tank’s journey, they didn’t hesitate. They knew he was meant to be theirs.
Today, Tank is finally home, where he will continue to heal with the support of his devoted new family. His dad and four-legged sister, Hope, have welcomed him with open arms—and Tank absolutely adores them! Under continued veterinary care, Tank is steadily gaining weight and strength in preparation for his upcoming neuter surgery. He is thriving in his new environment and slowly but surely healing from a lifetime of neglect.
Thanks to the generosity of our incredible CUDDLY supporters, Tank has made remarkable progress in his recovery, revealing his sweet and affectionate personality along the way. This animal-loving community raised over $2,400 for Tank’s medical care, and gifted him endless amounts of supplies for his recovery. Tank is where he is today because of YOUR compassion. Thank you to everyone who made Tank’s second chance possible!
