Mochi

When Mochi was first found, it was hard to imagine he would live through the night, let alone go on to inspire so many hearts. But now he has a home, and we have this incredible community to thank. 

Mochi was discovered completely battered and discarded like a piece of garbage in a local dumping ground. The skin on his legs was ripped away, exposing raw muscle and tendons. His tail was nearly torn in half, and his temperature had plummeted to a dangerous low. But Mochi wasn’t ready to give up, and neither were we.

We rushed him to the emergency hospital, praying with every mile that he would hold on. Once there, the news was worse than we’d feared: multiple fractures, two limbs beyond repair, and a tailbone injury that threatened lasting nerve damage. His first amputation came swiftly. Then his tail. Still, Mochi’s battle was far from over.

Weak and unable to eat, his body trembled through every bandage change. And just as he began to stabilize, another terrifying twist emerged. He developed a life-threatening diaphragmatic hernia, one that had gone unnoticed due to his small size. Emergency surgery followed, requiring his chest to be opened and his lungs supported by mechanical ventilation. It was high-risk. It was costly. But it was his only chance.

Through every harrowing turn, Mochi fought. His will to live was unshakable. We fought with him. Every surgery, every oxygen tube, every sleepless night in the ICU. Little by little, his strength returned. Ozone and laser therapy began to help his only remaining injured leg, and for the first time, we saw him begin to truly live, not just survive. And then… something beautiful happened.

Mochi found his forever home with the very veterinarian who first cared for him when he was rescued. The hands that treated his pain, that held his tiny paw through countless critical moments, are now the hands that tuck him into bed at night. She saw his worth from the beginning, and now, she’s giving him the lifetime of love he always deserved. 

We’re crying so hard right now. Mochi's story is a reminder that even in the darkest moments, hope is alive in this world. He was saved by a community that refused to let him suffer alone.
