It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Guppy’s transformation is a miracle. We are thrilled to announce that this sweet boy has been adopted! After a long and difficult road to recovery, Guppy finally found his happily ever after. But let’s take a moment and reflect on how this boy got to where he is now…

Guppy's story is one of survival against the grimmest of circumstances. Poor Guppy had been struck by a car, leaving him unable to walk and completely defenseless. As if his situation wasn’t bad enough, after the accident, Guppy was attacked by a stray dog. Unable to get away to safety, this little pup was left riddled with puncture wounds around the soft parts of his belly. The puncture wounds began to fester, and the surrounding skin began to rot away, becoming necrotic. Despite his situation, when Guppy was brought to the rescue, he showed something remarkable: a will to live.

Guppy’s care team dove into action, treating him for sepsis and stabilizing him. X-rays revealed multiple fractures in his pelvis and legs, along with a significant hole in his abdomen. For a while, we didn’t know if he was going to make it. But Guppy wasn’t giving up, and neither were we. The dedicated veterinary staff worked day and night cleaning his wounds and providing him with as much comfort and pain relief as possible. As his wounds were cleaned and he was gaining strength, our team was already preparing for the next crucial step: orthopedic surgery. 

Guppy underwent multiple intensive surgeries to repair his crushed pelvis and fractured femur, and to begin healing the deep abdominal wound. To say his recovery was challenging is the understatement of the year, but this brave boy met every obstacle head-on. It’s as if he knew there was a light at the end of the tunnel, and that he was getting close.His recovery didn’t stop with surgery. Guppy went on to complete extensive physical therapy, learning to walk again by balancing on his front paws while lifting his healing hind legs off the ground. Slowly but surely, Guppy began to regain strength and mobility. With each passing week, we watched this boy transform before our eyes.

But Guppy's story doesn't end there. Finally, after months of rehab and healing, Guppy found his forever home! After undergoing his final surgery, Guppy was adopted by a loving veterinarian who fell head over heels for him. And we don’t blame her. He stole our hearts, too! This sweet boy is still undergoing laser therapy treatments, but his new mom is with him every step of the way. 

Our team is so proud of this brave boy. He’s faced unbelievable challenges, but through it all, Guppy never lost his spirit or spark. We couldn’t have asked for a better ending to Guppy’s rescue and recovery story. Guppy’s transformation is living proof that your contributions make an impact.
