Lalo

We are happy to report that Lalo has found his forever home! For over a decade, every day was a fight for survival for this sweet kitty. But not anymore. Now, Lalo is finally safe, healthy, and with a loving family! Your generous donations and unwavering support made Lalo’s journey to healing possible. But before we celebrate, we want to take a moment and acknowledge the challenges Lalo has overcome. 

This senior boy didn’t have it easy by any means. Lalo had taken up residence in an abandoned home, which quickly became a very large cat colony. Over time, local families began stopping by, feeding the animals and slowly learning their personalities. Among them was Lalo—quiet, gentle, and growing weaker by the day. One evening, a young couple noticed the frail old cat struggling for every breath. His chest heaved with effort, his eyes pleading. And then, as if he knew they were his last chance, Lalo walked up to them—willingly, desperately—asking without words for the help he so badly needed. Without hesitation, they rushed Lalo to the hospital. 

The vet diagnosed Lalo with a severe respiratory infection, and he informed us that his lungs were too weak to function on their own. As if he weren’t sick enough, Lalo’s tail was also bleeding, infected, and barely hanging on. We were shocked when the vet suggested euthanasia, but we refused. We could see that Lalo wanted to fight, and we were determined to help him win. 

At only 2.5 pounds, Lalo was incredibly weak and malnourished, which made his recovery process even harder. For MONTHS, Lalo’s condition was touch and go, fighting for each breath and battling ruthless infection. But with each passing day, we saw Lalo’s condition beginning to improve. There was a light at the end of the tunnel, and this sweet boy was almost there. 

The road to recovery was long and tedious. Lalo spent several weeks in a safe, loving environment, receiving around-the-clock care, nourishing meals, and endless affection. Amazingly, Lalo’s tail healed and didn’t require amputation, and his collapsed lung finally reinflated. We got the all-clear from his doctors that his respiratory infection was completely gone—only then could we start the search for Lalo’s forever home. 

After over a decade of fighting for survival, Lalo took his freedom flight to the United States to be with his adopters in New Jersey. This sweet boy stole the hearts of a wonderful family, who happens to include a veterinarian in the house. A perfect fit!  Finally, Lalo gets to live out his golden years the way he deserves—safe, cherished, healthy, and oh so loved!

Lalo’s recovery is nothing short of a miracle, and it’s all thanks to the steadfast loyalty of this CUDDLY community. With your support, Lalo got his second chance.
