We are so grateful and fortunate to have blessed these two adorable kitties with beautiful new lives. Thanks to you, they received the medical care they needed to begin again, in a cozy environment where they will forever be safe and tended to. Let’s rewind to the very beginning and explore what makes this happy ending so, deeply special.

It pains us to know that cruelty exists in this world. Mean-spirited people with a drive to hurt are, frankly, inevitable. But kind people like you make healing and new beginnings possible. DD and her sister once belonged to a cat colony, where a kind woman routinely fed them. But one unassuming day, the feeder gasped in horror—poor DD and her sibling had been brutally shot with a BB gun! Who could have done such a thing? And why in the world would they intentionally harm such innocent creatures?

The feeder, stifling back her sobs, rushed the babies to the emergency hospital for treatment. While DD’s sister sustained minimal injuries, DD’s leg was obliterated. The bullet shot right through her fragile limb, leaving her unable to walk and wincing in constant pain. The vet quoted the feeder $3,000 for an urgent amputation—a cost the feeder could not afford on her own. But she couldn’t leave the kitties behind. That wasn't even a possibility. 

Not knowing what else to do, the feeder contacted Love N Light Furever, desperate for our support. Our compassionate team rushed to the vet to take the cats into our care. Fortunately, we found another vet who was able to perform the amputation for far less, saving us thousands. Thanks to the unwavering support of our generous community, we were able to raise enough funds for her surgery, medications, and the costs associated with her recovery!

Just a couple of days later, DD successfully had her procedure. But the following week involved intensive stabilization and lots of rest as we focused on healing her body and bolstering her strength. After some time, she was back to walking, this time on three legs. Her pain had vanished, and a brand-new life had opened its doors for her. Her joy, notable in her endless play and love of snuggles, was a blessing to see.

DD and her sister have since been lovingly adopted, beginning their next chapters. We are so happy for the two of them and cannot wait to see what is in store for the many years to come.
