Captain
We’re thrilled to share that Captain has been adopted! But before we fully celebrate his fresh start, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the difficult journey that led him here. This sweet boy had a rough beginning, and it’s important to us to honor the challenges he overcame.
When Captain first joined our rescue family two unforgettable years ago, he had just been shot. The injury caused by the bullet left him incontinent, so he wore diapers. Our team worked around the clock to keep Captain clean and apply rash cream every time we changed him, yet he still developed a friction sore from the diaper. Before we knew it, a devastating infection had spread throughout Captain’s body. In an instant, he was hospitalized.
For the second time in his life, Captain was on the verge of death. Our trusted medical staff leaped into action, administering IV fluids and cleaning the infected wound. Captain was given crucial antibiotics and a steady stream of medications to slow the infection and save his life. Our team stayed by his side through everything, unable to sleep or eat from worry. We weren’t sure if Captain would be able to pull through.
But, little by little, Captain’s situation improved. Support from our CUDDLY community began pouring in… and that changed everything. Your contributions allowed us to continue Captain’s intensive care and shower him with get-well gifts to lift his spirits. After ten days in the hospital, Captain was healed enough to finally return home, where he could rest comfortably, knowing he was safe and loved.
And now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for… CAPTAIN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Our joyful, resilient, endlessly lovable boy has officially found his forever family. Where some might have seen obstacles, they saw magic. Where others might have hesitated, they opened their hearts without a second thought. Captain didn’t just win them over—he completely captivated them.
Now, Captain spends his days soaking up all the love he deserves. When their daughter cries, he races up the stairs to her room to comfort her. And during mealtime, he patiently lingers behind her wheelchair, waiting to sneak a bite of her lunch (smart boy)! This incredible family welcomed Captain exactly as he is, diapers and all. In fact, Captain and his new dad have become inseparable best friends!
Captain has brought so much light and laughter into our world. His unshakable enthusiasm for life has taught us to dream bigger, love deeper, and believe harder. To every person who donated to Captain, rooted for him, and fought for his forever—YOU made this possible. Captain, you’ve earned every ounce of happiness coming your way. We’ll miss your wiggly joy, but knowing you’re finally home fills our hearts to the brim. Go live the dream, sweet boy. You’re home.
