Crunchwrap

Our beloved Crunchwrap is finally home, and we couldn’t be happier for her. This sweet girl had a lengthy, challenging road to recovery, but we stayed committed every step of the way. And with you by our side, we were able to get her the care she needed to both heal and thrive!

This tiny girl was entrusted to the care of well-intentioned owners who were doing their best. When Crunchwrap developed conjunctivitis (an infection of the outer membrane of the eyeball and the inner eyelid), she wasn’t taken to the vet. Instead, her owners had been putting tea tree oil in her eyes, hoping that would resolve the issue. We’re wincing just thinking about how painful that must have been.

A volunteer of ours discovered Crunchwrap while visiting one of her patients’ homes. By then, Crunchwrap’s eyes were crusted with inflammation, and her sibling had already passed away. The owners' hearts were in the right place, but this isn’t what these innocent souls needed. Far from it. The tea tree oil had made the condition much worse. And yet, despite everything, Crunchwrap continued purring through the pain.

Crunchwrap was whisked to the doors of our rescue, where our dedicated team began treatment immediately. We were worried that she’d lose one of her eyes, but we held onto the hope that we could save it. The medical team treated her eyes carefully and kept her fragile body warm with soft blankets. She was given nourishing kitten food, vitamins, and fluids to bolster her strength. Healing her wouldn’t be easy, but we didn’t care. For Crunchwrap, every dollar, every bump in the road, was worth it. 

Day by day, our sweet girl’s eyes began to heal. To our relief, Crunchwrap was able to keep both of them! She gained a whole pound and blossomed into the playful, curious kitten she always had been, deep inside. She especially enjoys energetic zoomies around the house, leaping and bounding on furniture. Her foster mama, who happens to be one of our excellent vet techs, shared that she’s the sweetest little snuggle bug who is always ready to climb into your lap or nuzzle her head against you.

The day that she was well enough for transport was a beautiful one. But just as Crunchwrap was getting ready to travel up north in search of her forever family, her foster mama officially foster failed!

Crunchwrap, now named Nova, has found her forever home with the very person who helped save her life. It’s truly the most wonderful ending.
