Daffodil experienced unimaginable cruelty. But thanks to patience, loving care, and your compassionate support, she has made a full recovery. Not only that, but she has been adopted by the most wonderful people. Let’s delve into her story to learn more about how this unraveled so beautifully.

Our sweet Daffodil had the most heartbreaking past. At eight years old, it’s likely that she had never known an ounce of kindness. Even now, when we know that she is safe, it’s difficult for us to comprehend what she went through. She was found with a rubber band tightened around her snout, and her ribs were shattered. Her babies were deceased in her womb. She wasn’t just neglected—she was tortured, then dumped.

Animal Control rushed the poor girl to the vet, where we were immediately contacted. Saving her life was never a question. As soon as we laid eyes on her, we knew we wanted to save her. With an active investigation underway, our team hurried Daffodil under our wing, committed to doing everything possible to get her on the right track.

The rubber band was gently removed, and the deep wounds it caused were stitched up. She was given pain medication to ease her discomfort, soft blankets for warmth, and nourishing food to bolster her strength. Daffodil underwent immediate treatment for her injuries, including her broken ribs and severe internal trauma. Vets also discovered that the poor girl had mammary tumors, which needed to be assessed. We took it day by day, allowing her to heal at her own pace. We gave her all the time she needed.

Daffodil experienced some separation anxiety throughout her healing journey, and we don’t blame her. Her emotional scars ran deep, perhaps even deeper than her physical ones. She screamed any time her foster mama stepped away from her—even for a moment. We are grateful that Daffodil had such a patient and attentive foster throughout all of this. Because of this, the once-timid pup began to learn how to trust. She was in safe hands now, and she would never be so cruelly abandoned again.

As the weeks went on, Daffodil healed beautifully. The stitches were removed from her snout, and the scab where the rubber band had been began to fall off. She was livelier, more energetic, and her anxiety eased. Right before our eyes, this precious girl was transforming into a new dog—so different from the broken pup we rescued not too long ago. We are just so proud of how hard she fought, how resilient she was throughout all of this.

Then, something incredible happened. A loving family—who understood her past, saw her strength, and fell head over heels for her—brought her home. THIS is what we fight for. A new beginning, a second chance, and a life filled with nothing but kindness.
