Luna Girl
We have BIG news to share! Luna Girl has found her forever home! We’ve been waiting for this moment for quite some time, but before we celebrate, let’s take a moment to remember the struggles and victories that got us here…
For a while, Luna Girl had a family. She had a home, a place to sleep, a bowl full of food, and someone she thought loved her. But Luna Girl’s world came crashing down when her owner surrendered her to a Texas municipal shelter, not wanting to care for her anymore. This sweet girl’s health had deteriorated considerably at the hands of neglect, and it was likely too much to handle. Struggling with a fungal infection, Luna Girl found herself on the euthanasia list, labeled as beyond help. That’s when we stepped in.
Luna Girl's health challenges were daunting, but our team was up for the challenge. The fungal infection covered her entire body, causing her immense pain and causing patches of fur to fall off, revealing dry, raw skin. She walked with a stark limp, caused by a Luxating Elbow condition. After weeks of intensive care and several visits with orthopedic doctors, it was decided that the best course of action was amputation.
In early March, Luna Girl underwent a very successful amputation! Slowly but surely, her fungal infection also cleared. There was a light at the end of this very long tunnel, and sweet Luna Girl was almost there.
Months of painful and extensive recovery later, Luna Girl finally met her loving owner! Her new dad fell head over heels for this sweet girl and offered her a safe, loving home. Luna Girl’s days are now filled with long walks, tug-of-war, and plenty of cuddles on the couch. We couldn’t be more thrilled for this brave and resilient pup!
