These Shelter Dogs

Thanks to you, more than 50 lives have been spared, and 38 precious dogs have found forever homes. Yes, you heard us right—38 lives have not only been saved, but are living out their dream lives. They are forever surrounded by love and light, and we owe it all to your generosity.

We received a call about a heartbreaking situation. A rural shelter was faced with no other option than to euthanize over 100 dogs. They were unfunded, unstaffed, and stretched to the absolute limit. Their dogs were eating every three to four days and sleeping on the cold, hard floor. They didn’t know what else to do, so they turned to rescues like ours for help.

We didn’t have the bandwidth to save 100 lives. However, we could certainly do our best to rescue as many as possible. We couldn’t turn our backs on these pups, on the shelter that was trying so hard to keep them all safe and give them a good life. There was no way. We scraped together whatever supplies and funds we could find, rallying our loyal volunteers together. We drove all the way to the desperate shelter, pulling more than 50 precious pups. The rest went on to other rescues that had more space and resources.

At the same time, we sent out a plea for help on CUDDLY—just in case. We held onto the hope that compassionate people would find our story and feel compelled to give these dogs a chance. We certainly couldn’t do it all on our own. We acted on blind trust, not knowing what to expect but feeling compelled to help anyway. Because these lives needed us; they had no one else.

To our amazement, the donations flooded in. We were completely overwhelmed with gratitude, struggling to wipe the smiles from our faces. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to bring the first group of pups to the vet for check-ups and health certificates, preparing them for their upcoming journey to safety. The remaining dogs were on hold, and we returned a week later to retrieve them all.

We transported over 50 dogs to Michigan, where their second chances awaited them. At our rescue there, we showered them with all the TLC we could muster, providing them with the medical care they deeply deserved. We almost couldn’t believe it. These innocent souls were just HOURS away from euthanasia. But thanks to the kind people who stepped in to help, they were with us, eager for their beautiful next chapter.

About a month later, only 12 of them were still with us. The rest? They had already gone off to loving homes, soaking up their beautiful new lives. We are just so happy for every one of them. They have come so far, they have fought so hard, and now they are forever safe and loved.
