The heartfelt message filled our hearts. Kenai's owner reached out to let us know that his adorable pup was happy, healthy, and thriving. We’ve been in contact ever since, loving every beautiful update that comes our way. Let’s take a moment to see how all of this unfolded so wonderfully.

In May of 2024, three Husky mix puppies, Kosi, Kenai, and Keoki, were found abandoned. Their fragile bodies were clinging to life in a drainpipe. They were covered in a gruesome skin infection and painful Demodex mange. When we received the call, we didn’t hesitate to say “yes”.

Our team hurried over to bring them to safety. The babies were visibly frightened, though we don’t blame them. They had an unfair, challenging start to life, and they weren’t sure if they could trust us. Gingerly, we scooped them up and rushed them into our care for urgent help.

At the vet, we received a carefully planned treatment plan. The medical team treated their malnourished bodies with nourishing, calorie-dense food and administered antibiotics, pain relief, and hydrating IV fluids. They underwent gentle, medicated baths to soothe their cracked, inflamed skin, and ensured they had a safe, cozy place to rest. We monitored them constantly, praying they’d make it through.

Just as the situation began to improve, a barrier formed in our path. To our heartache, one of the puppies fell ill with Parvovirus and had to be moved to isolation. Urgent treatment was initiated as his fragile body fought with everything it had left.

A month later, the hard work from all of us, especially Kosi, Kenai, and Keoki, paid off. The sweet Husky babies were barely recognizable from the struggling, sickly pups we had rescued not so long ago. Beautiful coats grew in, and their skin was as healthy as can be. They went from lethargic and weak to spirited and eager to explore. The joy we felt was indescribable—we were so grateful they were not only alive, but ready to begin their beautiful next chapters!

Eventually, all three pups went off to loving homes. Since then, we hadn’t heard much from their new owners, but we knew they were in safe hands. So, when the message appeared in our inbox on June 17, you can imagine our absolute delight.

Kenai (now called Kenny) is a healthy 66 pounds, 26 inches wide at the shoulder, and deeply affectionate. While he still trembles during car rides, he goes on trips to the park with his new owner to socialize with dogs and people. He’s getting better and more comfortable each time. He loves hiking in the woods, playing with neighborhood pups, and snuggling close. We couldn’t be happier for him!

Your generosity made this happy ending possible. We are so grateful to everyone who gave these puppies a chance and made a donation to their healing care. Kenny and his siblings are now so, deeply loved, and it’s all thanks to you. We hope you know how much of a difference you’ve made for animals in need. ❤️
