Chandelle

Thanks to you, our precious boy, Chandelle, has not only fully recovered but is the newest member of his new family! He’s eating on his own, without pain, and is soaking up this beautiful new life of his. Let’s take a moment to dive into how this came to be.

Proceed with caution: Chandelle’s story is a tragic one. At least, in the beginning. The poor boy was wandering the streets with a two-ton barrel of steel slammed into his fragile body. The impact shattered his jaw. He was left bloodied and panting on the roadside until someone found him. But instead of giving Chandelle the help he clearly needed, the finder flung him in their yard and left him there for three agonizing days.

Neighbors, heartbroken at the sight of Chandelle’s pain, alerted our rescue. We were there within moments. When questioned, the finder claimed they didn’t have the money to help the hurting dog, but given their apparent disregard for the dog's pain, we believe they likely just didn’t care.

We scooped Chandelle up in our loving arms and rushed him to the vet for immediate treatment. In addition to his obliterated jaw, he was burning hot with a fever and covered head-to-toe in blood-sucking ticks. We suspected he may have a tick-borne disease and anemia, given how weak he was.

X-rays unveiled just how serious Chandelle’s shattered jaw was. Intensive surgery was essential to healing him—and it needed to be done ASAP. While we had hoped that he could keep all of his jaw, a portion of it was beyond repair and had to be removed. The good news: he woke up from the procedure with a ravenous appetite! He was already feeling much better.

Chandelle remained hospitalized for a good amount of the healing process. Our sweet boy was kept on a wet food diet while we waited for his stitches to heal. His mouth was thoroughly cleaned multiple times a day, including after eating, to prevent any complications. He received round-the-clock care and a cocktail of medications for his many other ailments.

Day by day, this handsome boy grew stronger. His jaw fully healed, the stitches were removed, and he was back to his vibrant, playful self. He went from a frightened boy in pain to happy, healthy, and ready to take on the world!

Chandelle attended adoption event after adoption event. Every day, we held onto the hope that he’d find the perfect family. The morning that it finally happened, something felt different. We could feel it in our hearts and souls. Chandelle would find his forever home—and his did.

A wonderful couple locked eyes with Chandelle and knew, straight away, that he was the one for them. He has blended beautifully with their family! He enjoys cozy snuggles, playtime under the sun, and endless treats. He’ll always be safe now, and it’s all thanks to you.
