Remember Hasley? This precious pup has officially celebrated her one-year adoptiversary, and Magnolia Mutts Rescue couldn’t be more thrilled! But before the celebration begins, rescuers want to take a moment to reflect on her journey, because this milestone is even more special when you know how hard Hasley fought to get here.

Hasley’s story began in Grenada Lake, Mississippi. She had tumbled into the water and become ensnared in an illegal beaver trap. All through the long, terrifying night, Hasley struggled to stay afloat, her leg tearing open further with each desperate movement. When a park ranger finally spotted her the next morning, only her snout was visible above the water. Without hesitation, the park ranger leapt in to save her, even fighting off a water moccasin as he worked to free her.

Exhausted and delirious, Hasley snapped at her rescuer, not understanding he was there to help. But at last, she was freed, and Magnolia Mutts Rescue was called in for support. Without a moment’s hesitation, they said yes. Hasley was rushed to the hospital, where vets confirmed that her leg had turned necrotic. Her only chance at a pain-free life was immediate amputation.

Through it all, Hasley displayed remarkable resilience. Still, her care came with costs rescuers hadn’t prepared for. Faced with climbing bills for Hasley’s emergency care, surgery, and rehabilitation, Magnolia Mutts Rescue turned to the CUDDLY community, hoping someone would hear Hasley’s story and care enough to help. And you did. Practically overnight, donations, food, treats, and supplies came flooding in.

That support made all the difference. Hasley adjusted beautifully to three legs, her spunky personality shining brighter every day. Rescuers watched in awe as this brave girl left her pain behind and embraced the love and joy she had always deserved to experience.

Now, Hasley is living her very best life in her forever home. For 365 days and counting, she’s soaked up cuddles, enjoyed delicious treats, and rested comfortably, knowing that she is safe and loved.
