Hope & Monalisa

Today, rescuers are celebrating—not just one happy ending, but two! Protect Animals Worldwide is overjoyed to share that both Hope and Monalisa have been adopted…into the same loving family. After everything they endured together, these seniors will now spend the rest of their days side by side, cherished and adored. But before the confetti falls, rescuers want to take a moment to reflect on the journey that brought them here.

After a lifetime of loyalty to the person they loved most, Hope and Monalisa were abandoned when their guardian passed away. Left behind in a decaying mansion, they were surrounded by garbage and silence. No one came to feed them. No one came to comfort them. One was even tied to a can, crying out for days in desperation. They had once known love—but when the person they trusted most was gone, they were left with nothing, not even basic kindness from the family members still alive.

Hope, at 14 years old, was heartbreakingly thin and dehydrated, her mouth riddled with infection and her abdomen painfully bloated. She had a large ulcerated tumor, along with infections in her ears and intimate areas. Monalisa, age 15, was also in dire shape, suffering from severe dental disease, constant abdominal pain, ear infections, and a mammary lump.

Thanks to the compassion of the CUDDLY community, both girls received the critical care they desperately needed. Their tumors were removed, Hope began treatment for diabetes, and together they underwent months of intensive, around-the-clock care. Slowly, they began to heal—physically and emotionally.

Still, one question lingered: Would anyone ever open their heart to two senior dogs with special needs? Rescuers held onto hope that these sweet girls would once again know the joy of couch cuddles and lazy days in the sun.

Then, the day finally came. A wonderful family—who had already adopted twice from Protect Animals Worldwide—opened their arms once again, welcoming both Hope and Monalisa into their home. Now, these senior ladies finally have the forever family they’ve been waiting for.

And it’s all because of you. Your generosity gave them this second chance. To everyone who donated, sent supplies, or shared their story, Protect Animals Worldwide offers heartfelt thanks. Your kindness changed their lives, and gave these two beautiful girls the happiest of endings.
