Splinter

After more than a year in rescue care, our brave boy Splinter has finally found his forever family! His journey has been long, emotional, and filled with countless moments of courage and healing. Today, Splinter is happy, healthy, and completely unrecognizable—and it’s all thanks to the incredible support from people like you. But before we celebrate, let’s take a look at how Splinter got to where he is today…

When Splinter was first found, his life was hanging by a thread. Abandoned in a notorious dog-dumping zone and discovered barely clinging to life beneath an RV, he weighed just 41 pounds—his frail frame covered in open sores where his bones had torn through his skin. Every breath was a struggle, every step an act of pain.

His head and face were raw from sunburn and infection, and his body was overrun with heartworms and parasites. He was a ghost of a dog—broken, defeated, and forgotten. But Splinter’s story didn’t end there. 

The road ahead wasn’t easy. Healing took time—months of intensive veterinary care, gentle rehabilitation, and endless patience. His skin needed to mend, his body needed to gain strength, and his heart needed to believe in kindness again. For over a year, Splinter remained in the loving care of his rescue family, slowly learning that life could be soft, safe, and full of love.

Of course, there were plenty of setbacks. Weight gain was a constant battle, and recovery from heartworms took months, but through it all, Splinter never gave up. We knew that there was a light at the end of this very long tunnel. We just had to get Splinter there. And today, after more than a year of fighting, healing, and hoping… Splinter has finally found his forever home.

He now spends his days curled up on a warm bed, chasing toys in the backyard, and soaking up the kind of love he once could only dream of. His new family adores him, and for the first time, Splinter knows what “home” truly means.
