We can hardly believe we are writing this. Our sweet Cupid—the starving, chained, defeated pup we pulled from the brink of death just moments before a record-breaking winter storm hit—has not only healed… he is looking for his forever family! After everything he endured, this brave soul is finally safe and impossibly loved. But before we celebrate this beautiful ending, we want to reflect on just how far he’s come.

When Cupid first arrived, his condition was unlike anything we had seen. As Winter Storm Enzo barreled toward Tifton, Georgia, we received a gut-wrenching call. There was a dog chained outside, skeletal, shivering, and barely able to stand. Every bone jutted through his fragile frame. He was 44 pounds—less than half of what he should’ve been. To complicate matters, every breath rattled from a respiratory infection, his eyes were coated with goopy discharge, and his heart and lungs were infested with worms. Cupid’s body was failing, and he had no way to escape the cold that would have surely taken his life.

Once Cupid was safely in our arms, the reality of his condition set in. Cupid was so severely malnourished that we had to begin feeding him through a meticulous, medically supervised refeeding plan to prevent organ failure. He was too weak to stand for more than a few seconds. Under the careful guidance of his vet team, Cupid received prescription recovery food, vital nutrients, antibiotics, and constant monitoring. Slowly, our boy began to stabilize. We saw flickers of hope in his tired eyes, tiny sparks that reminded us he wasn’t done fighting.

And then, day by day, miracle by miracle, Cupid began to transform. He started gaining weight. First five pounds, then 10, then 19. The progress was deliberate and slow by design, ensuring his organs could keep up with the changes. Weeks later, for the first time in 84 days, we could see the shape of a healthy dog emerging beneath his once-sunken frame. He hit 77 pounds. His Heartworm treatment was completed. The dog who once trembled in fear began wagging his tail with confidence.

Then came the moment we had all been waiting for. The day Cupid finally stepped into the life he always deserved. After 242 long days of healing, this sweetheart’s recovery was complete. With his new beginning came a new name: Captain. A fitting title for a dog who weathered the fiercest storm and emerged stronger than ever.

Today, Captain weighs a healthy and stunning 110 pounds. He is adored, celebrated, and living his best life. To every single person who donated, sent gifts, shared his story, or simply rooted for him, we owe this happy ending to YOU. The kindness of this CUDDLY community transformed a starving, abandoned dog into a symbol of resilience and hope. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for never giving up on him. Sail on, Captain. We love you!
