Grace

We are so thrilled! Grace—the sweet girl who arrived at our rescue in unimaginable pain—has not only healed, but has also found her forever home. Her journey tested every ounce of strength she had, and every ounce of hope we could hold onto. Today, her story stands as a reminder of why we fight so hard for dogs like her.

When Grace first came into our care back in March, her condition was devastating. A horrific, maggot-infested wound had eaten into the left side of her face, opening into her mouth and leaving her unable to eat without debilitating pain. Blood pooled on exam tables as veterinarians worked to assess the damage, unsure if her eye, or even her life, could be saved. On top of it all, Grace was battling Transmissible Venereal Tumors (TVT), an aggressive cancer, along with oral lesions and a mammary tumor.

Despite the grim outlook, Grace never stopped leaning into love. She endured emergency treatment, wound care, and began chemotherapy, a process that would require weeks of commitment and resilience. Though her damaged eye could not be saved, surgery successfully closed her facial wound, and she completed every round of chemo like the warrior she is. Against all odds, Grace beat TVT.

Recovery wasn’t instant, and at times it felt like Grace was being overlooked despite everything she had survived. But slowly, the dog beneath the pain began to shine. Thanks to the incredible CUDDLY community, we had all the support we needed to help Grace heal. One by one, she reached every milestone. Her stitches came out, and her spirit blossomed. Those who spent time with her immediately saw the quiet strength and sweetness that made her so special.

Then, the moment we had all been waiting for finally arrived. The right family saw Grace for who she really was. They didn’t see her scars or missing eye. They saw her heart. They welcomed her into their home with open arms, loving her exactly as she is. Watching Grace walk into this new chapter filled us with a gratitude we can barely put into words.

Grace’s happy ending exists because of compassion, generosity, and belief. To everyone who donated, shared her story, and stood by her through the darkest days, thank you.
