Carly’s story began in heartbreak. She was found sitting on the asphalt beside a median in Tijuana, just inches from passing traffic and completely defeated. She had stopped crying for help. For months, she had suffered in plain sight, ignored as she battled a severe, painful skin infection. In a tragic attempt to help, engine oil had been poured onto her raw, inflamed skin—an outdated and dangerous myth that only intensified her suffering.
By the time we received the call about her, it was almost too late. We rushed to get her off the streets and straight to the veterinarian, where the extent of her condition became clear. Her skin infection covered much of her body, her fur was falling out, and her injuries were consistent with exposure to engine oil. She was in constant pain, exhausted, and had already been through more than any two-year-old dog ever should.
Carly required intensive veterinary care, medicated baths, and ongoing treatment to undo the damage and give her body a chance to heal. Despite everything, she never stopped being gentle. Even in pain, she looked up with trusting eyes, as if she knew someone had finally come for her.
And because of you, someone truly did. Through months of care, healing, and love, Carly slowly transformed. Her skin improved. Her strength returned. Her spirit softened. And then, the moment we all hoped for arrived. Carly found her forever family.
