Nina
We are so proud of this sweet girl and are grateful beyond words to be able to share her FULL transformation story. She is so strong, so resilient, and so gentle all at once. We cannot wait for what’s in store for her and her loving family, and have many thanks to give to YOU for making this possible through your generous donations.
When Niña first arrived at our shelter, her tiny body was failing her. She had been found alone on the streets, shivering with fear, weakness, and pain. She was rushed to us by a stranger who couldn’t walk away from her suffering. The moment we examined her, our hearts sank. Niña was battling aggressive TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor), a painful condition that, without treatment, slowly destroys an animal from the inside out. There was no time to wait.
We began chemotherapy immediately. After her first sessions, small but powerful changes began to appear. The fear in her eyes softened. She showed moments of playfulness and energy. For the first time in a long time, Niña started to trust that she might finally be safe. By December, after five chemotherapy sessions, her progress filled us with hope. The tumor was responding well and shrinking in size, her strength was returning, and most importantly, her pain had decreased significantly. She rested better, walked with more confidence, welcomed affection, and even wagged her tail again. The dull, tired eyes we first saw were slowly replaced with relief and determination.
And then came the moment we had all been praying for. In January, Niña completed her medical treatment and was officially considered out of danger. She was stable, her pain had subsided, and she now only needs follow-up checkups to protect her health long-term. This would have been enough to make us beam, but folks, her story doesn’t end there. We have even better news. The very person who found her on the streets, who refused to leave her behind in her darkest moment, made the incredible decision to adopt her. They were with her from start to finish, following along with her story like you did. After watching her battle cancer and WIN, their hearts were set. Niña didn’t just regain her health, she gained a home, a family, and the promise that she will never be alone again.
Niña’s journey is proof of what compassion, timely medical care, and YOUR unwavering support can achieve. She arrived broken and suffering. She left healed, loved, and safe. To everyone who believed in her, donated, shared her story, and stood by her side, thank you. Because of you, Niña has her second chance. And this is exactly why we do what we do.
