Odie

When Odie first came to Fort Worth Animal Care & Control, he was in heartbreaking condition. While the most severe photos were preserved for his court case, the images we saw were still so horrific. Odie was severely emaciated with a body score of 1, weighing just 28 pounds, and battling untreated injuries and parasites. He had endured unimaginable neglect. 

That’s why it’s all the more miraculous that he’s NOW thriving in a loving forever home. Read below to see his full transformation!

Thanks to the quick action of one of our incredible foster volunteers, Odie was brought into a safe home where he could begin his recovery. Named after Odysseus, the Greek hero who survived unimaginable hardships, Odie’s story has all the same markers of hope and perseverance. Though it was initially feared that he may have Parvovirus, he thankfully tested negative, which allowed us to focus on treating his multiple skin wounds, ear infections, dental issues, flea-triggered anemia, and internal parasites. Slowly but surely, Odie began to thrive.

Day by day, Odie got better. He gained weight, his coat began to shine, and the spark of joy and confidence returned to his eyes. Updates from his foster home showed a dog who was not just surviving…but flourishing! 

The happiest chapter of Odie’s journey came when he found his forever home. From a frightened, neglected pup to a confident, cherished companion, Odie now lives in a home with a loving family. He’s got the life he always deserved.
