We can hardly believe we’re writing this! Our brave girl, Letícia, has been ADOPTED. After surviving injuries that nearly claimed her life, she is now walking, playing, and living in a home filled with love. It feels like a dream. But before we celebrate, we want to look back at the incredible mountain this one-year-old warrior climbed to get here.

Letícia’s life changed in an instant when she was struck by a car. Our team found her unable to walk and bleeding from her mouth and back. Her entire body trembled in shock. At the hospital, every bit of news made our hearts sink. Letícia had a devastating femur fracture, a damaged knee, a torn mouth from biting her tongue during the collision, and then the most terrifying discovery of all—her bladder had ruptured, filling her abdomen with urine. Without emergency surgery, Letícia would not have survived.

Vets rushed her into the operating room, draining the fluid from her swollen abdomen and carefully reconstructing her injured bladder. She became unstable under anesthesia, forcing her spay procedure to be postponed. For seven long days, Letícia remained hospitalized with a catheter in place, fighting to heal before she could even face her next battle. And then came her second major surgery—a femur osteosynthesis—where surgeons aligned her shattered bone and secured it with metal implants, giving her a chance to walk again.

And just when we dared to hope that Letícia was finally in the clear, another crisis hit. Letícia’s hematocrit plummeted. She needed an urgent blood transfusion to survive. She battled severe anemia and a serious infection. Some days she wagged her tail; other days she was too tired to lift her head. But every single day, she fought. And because of YOUR support, we were able to fight right alongside her.

Slowly, day by day, Letícia began to recover. Tests later revealed iron deficiency anemia, likely present even before rescue and worsened by infection. With continued treatment, monitoring, and endless love, Letícia’s strength returned. The fragile girl who once lay trembling in shock began walking normally again. Then, one day, we saw Letícia playing. We couldn’t hold back our tears. Just a few months ago, this was a sight we could have only dreamed of.

And now, the happiest update of all—Letícia has found her forever home! This resilient girl has been adopted by a wonderful family who already adores her, and she even has a furry sibling who was also adopted. Today, she is joyfully, completely herself. The life-threatening injuries that once threatened to pull her under are now just a chapter in her story, not the ending.
