We have incredible news to share with you. Beni has been adopted, and is resting easy and having lots of fun in his forever home. This is incredible, life-changing news, especially considering the condition we found him in originally. We could not be happier for this sweet boy. Read below to see his FULL transformation! 

When we first heard about Beni, our hearts sank. This sweet Shih Tzu had been found starving and in desperate pain. One of his eyes was punctured and infested with maggots, but you could barely see the rest of his wounds that were hidden under layers of filthy mats. He had known only fear and neglect, and it was clear that his trust in humans had been almost COMPLETELY shattered.

Yet, despite his terror and exhaustion, he allowed us to carefully bring him to the hospital. There, the veterinary team immediately stabilized him with fluids and pain/anti-inflammatory medications, while they slowly but surely removed the larvae from his eye. It was a slow, delicate process. Once vets finished, they realized with sadness that one eye was already too far gone, and enucleation surgery would be necessary once he was strong enough to face it.

Beni’s resilience was remarkable. Even through pain and uncertainty, he exhibited graciousness and strength. Day by day, with love, care, and the support of compassionate donors, he began to recover. Once stable, he underwent surgery to remove the damaged eye, and from that point forward, his healing was unstoppable.

The happiest chapter of Beni’s story came when he met his forever mom. She saw past the scars and trauma to the brave, loving dog beneath. Today, Beni spends his days snuggled safely in her arms, surrounded by warmth, security, and the kind of love he never knew before. No longer the terrified, starving pup from before, Beni is cherished and finally home.
