Hydrangea

We have incredible news to share with you. Hydrangea has been adopted, and is resting easy and having lots of fun in her forever home. This is incredible, life-changing news, especially considering the condition we found her in originally. We could not be happier for this sweet girl. Read below to see her FULL transformation! 

When we originally found this sweet girl, we we’re beside ourselves. We didn’t even know where to begin. This poor senior dog was found lying motionless on the side of the road after being struck by a car. Her body trembled from unbearable pain and exhaustion. Her front legs were mangled, and her bones were exposed. 

One of Hydrangea’s front legs was so badly injured that the skin could literally be peeled away, exposing muscle, nerves, and tendons. We took the risk to save her life because no one else would. We got Hydrangea hospitalized, receiving strong pain medication, antibiotics, and fluids. Her condition was critical. Then, during her exam, the vet also discovered a tumor, about 2 cm wide, in one of her mammary glands.

We were doing everything we could to stabilize her but in that moment, we can’t deny it. We were worried. Would she have a fighting chance? Every single donation you sent kept her alive, kept her going. Every single penny added up and kept us able to keep pushing for her, able to keep helping. Hydrangea underwent surgery to repair the fracture in her front leg and to close the giant wound she had been suffering from. The fractured leg was then splinted, and her other wounded front leg began to heal. That one would not ultimately require surgery. 

Then, the recovery phase. We dotted on her, we gave her all of the love and attention we possibly could. She is so sweet, gentle, and deserving, and she always loved us right back. When she was strong enough, we sent out signals for adoption. Because she is a senior, we were skeptical. But we were wrong to be. HYDRANGEA WAS ADOPTED!!!!! 

Today…Hydrangea is HOME. Hydrangea’s new mom absolutely adores and cherishes her, and it’s so clear that she is already deeply loved. After everything she endured, seeing her finally safe and comfortable is more than we could have hoped for. Senior dogs are so often overlooked, but Hydrangea is one of the lucky ones. Now she gets to spend her golden years in a home filled with warmth, security, and affection, and she even has new doggy siblings to play with. She’s no longer alone. She’s part of a family.
