We are so thrilled to share this update with you today. Our sweet Negrita, who was found paralyzed on the side of the road after a devastating hit-and-run, is now healed and officially HOME. After everything she’s endured, this brave girl has found her forever family, and our hearts could not be more full of gratitude and joy. This is the ending we fought so hard for. But before we celebrate, let’s take a moment to look back at how far she’s come.

When Negrita was first found, she had already been in agony for WEEKS. Locals shared that she had been struck by a car and left there, unable to stand or walk. By the time someone who cared enough to intervene came across Negrita, she was splayed out on the ground, her back legs barely moving. She had nearly given up. That’s when our team got the call, and we knew we had to act fast to give this 2-year-old girl a chance at survival and a happy life.

We rushed Negrita to the veterinary clinic, where X-rays revealed devastating injuries to her spine and hind legs. The damage was severe, and the road ahead was uncertain. Negrita couldn’t walk and required constant supportive care, including diaper changes and physical therapy. Even as days passed, her mobility remained extremely limited, and further evaluations confirmed what we had initially feared. Negrita wouldn’t be able to move on to the next phase in her recovery journey without surgery.

Still, Negrita kept fighting. With continued, intensive veterinary care, we began preparing for the next stage in her treatment. Through it all, this sweetheart remained under close medical watch, receiving the care she needed while we worked tirelessly to secure the funds required for her surgery and recovery. And thanks to YOUR compassion and generosity, we were able to keep moving forward for Negrita.

And then, practically overnight, everything changed. After receiving the care she so desperately needed, Negrita was welcomed into a loving foster home. There, she began to experience something entirely new. Instead of pain, her days were filled with comfort and affection. Day by day, Negrita soaked up every bit of love around her. Before long, her foster family realized they couldn’t imagine life without her. Negrita was already home.

Now, Negrita is exactly where she was always meant to be—in her forever home, surrounded by a family who adores her. The once-forgotten dog who lay helpless on the roadside is now loved beyond measure. To everyone who donated, shared her story, and stood by her side, THANK YOU.
