We are THRILLED to share such an incredible update with you today. Penny, who was once locked away and left to starve, is now living the life she always deserved. She’s been adopted into a loving home with endless space to play and simply be a puppy. After everything this sweet girl has endured, her joyful ending feels nothing short of miraculous. Let’s take a moment to look back at how far she’s come.

Penny’s story began in the most heartbreaking way. When a landlord opened the door to an abandoned apartment, he expected to find trash and old furniture left behind. What he never anticipated was that he would stumble upon a starving 6-month-old puppy trapped in a feces-filled kennel. She was emaciated, dehydrated, and completely alone. Her owners had packed up and left her behind without a second thought. Even after being rescued from that nightmare and brought to the shelter, she landed on the euthanasia list. Penny was just hours away from losing her life.

Our team knew we couldn’t let Penny’s story end there. Our team stepped in immediately, securing her safety and beginning the long road to recovery. Penny was placed in a loving foster home where, for the first time, she got to experience comfort and care. Slowly but surely, she began gaining weight, building strength, and discovering the simple joys of being a puppy—like her newfound love for tug-of-war.

As Penny continued to heal, her journey carried her even further. She made her way to our partner rescue in Colorado. There, her progress was even more encouraging. Our concerns about her front legs began to ease, as this resilient girl showed signs of improvement without the need for surgery. With each passing day, Penny grew stronger, healthier, and more confident.

Then came the moment we had all been hoping for. After everything she had been through, Penny found her forever home. And not just any home—a beautiful property with acres of land for her to explore, run, and live freely. This once-forgotten puppy is now surrounded by love and living the life she was always meant to have. We could not be more thrilled for Penny!
