Pepita
This is a HUGE moment for our team! Our sweet Pepita, who was once fighting for her life in the ICU, has survived the unimaginable and has been adopted into a loving home. After everything she endured, this tiny fighter is no longer alone. Our hearts are so full of joy in this moment. Let’s take a second to look back at her incredible journey.
Pepita’s life changed in an instant. She was found lying in the street after being run over, her broken body trembling. She could barely breathe, let alone move, yet she still tried to scoot closer to our team when we arrived. It was a moment we will never forget. Right away, we rushed Pepita to the hospital, fearing she might not survive the night.
At the clinic, the extent of Pepita’s injuries was devastating. She had multiple fractures, possible spinal trauma, and a dangerous buildup of urine leaking into her abdomen due to a rupture. Emergency surgery was her only chance. During her operation, doctors discovered a pelvic bone fragment had damaged her ureter, which they carefully repaired while removing the fluid and stabilizing her fragile body.
Pepita’s fight didn’t end there. As she recovered, she faced yet another life-threatening diagnosis—a giant kidney worm, which left her needing urgent surgery to remove her affected kidney. Through it all, she kept fighting. Even after major procedures, she greeted us with a wagging tail and a spirit that refused to break.
Day by day, Pepita grew stronger. With intensive care, monitoring, and endless love, she began to heal. The scared, broken puppy we once carried into the ICU slowly transformed into a resilient, hopeful girl ready for a new chapter.
And then, the moment we had all been hoping for finally came. Pepita was adopted. The puppy who once lay alone and suffering in the road now has a family who will love and protect her forever. To everyone who stood by her, THANK YOU. We are still working to cover her medical costs, but today, we celebrate a life saved and a future filled with love. Welcome home, Pepita!
