Moth

Moth is curled up somewhere soft tonight, in a home that belongs to him. There is no pain in his mouth, no infection in his skin, and no reason left to hide from the world. For a cat who once gave up on people entirely, that is everything.

When we first found Moth, he had isolated himself on a rooftop in the Florida heat, barely moving, as though the world had finally worn him down completely. He had survived a street attack. He was living with FIV. Mange had taken hold of his skin. And for months, broken tooth roots had been rotting in his gums, causing him constant pain with nowhere to escape it. He had every reason to stop trusting people, and for a long time, he did.

But Moth chose life. Quietly, on his own terms, he let someone pick him up one day, and everything changed from that moment forward.

He came into care scared and hurting, and the road ahead of him was long. Countless vet visits. Extensive treatment for his skin and his infections. And finally, the dental surgery that freed him from the pain he had been carrying in silence for months. Every step of it took time, patience, and funding, and every step of it was worth it.

Through all of it, Moth never stopped being gentle. He melted into laps. He asked to be held like a baby. He gave his whole heart to the people who showed up for him, even after everything human hands had already done to him. That kind of forgiveness is not something we take lightly, and it is something we will never forget about him.

And now, this sweet, resilient boy is officially adopted. He is happy, he is settled, and he is living exactly the peaceful life he fought so hard to hold onto. No more rooftops. No more pain. No more waiting for someone to notice him.

We are so grateful to everyone who donated, shared his story, and cheered him on along the way. Moth got here because people refused to look past a suffering cat on a rooftop, and this beautiful ending belongs to all of you. Thank you.
