Katy Perry's journey began with heartbreak. Our volunteers found her wandering alone, unable to place any weight on her hind leg. Begging for some sort of food to finally get her stomach to stop growling. We were able to earn her trust, eventually coaxing her into a safe place so we could begin our task of saving her. But when we brought her in for treatment on her injured leg, X-rays revealed a truth no one was prepared for. A bullet was lodged in her shattered femur. It was devastating news, but we were determined to make sure Katy Perry knew there was more to her life than suffering…

After careful evaluation, our veterinary team determined that amputation offered Katy Perry her best chance at a pain-free life. She underwent her surgery and came through it safely, resting comfortably as her recovery began. As the weeks went on, Katy Perry continued to thrive and adjusted beautifully to being a tripod, started meeting other dogs, and quickly showed just how much she loved people, snuggly, social, and full of joy despite everything she had been through.

Then came a milestone worth celebrating: Katy Perry attended her first adoption event and met her future family! The only thing left standing between her and her forever home was completing her Heartworm treatment, one final step to ensure she was fully healthy before starting her new life.

After a smooth battle dealing with her Heartworm treatment, she finally made it. Katy Perry has officially been adopted, welcomed into a family of her very own. From a frightened, wounded dog wandering alone to a beloved companion curled up in her forever home, her transformation is nothing short of remarkable.
