The kitten who once dragged a broken leg through the streets alone now has a family of her own. Pimento Cheese was found wandering with a painful front leg injury that made every step a struggle, surviving with no one to help her until she was brought into Mesquite Animal Shelter. One of our fosters saw her there and stepped up immediately, pulling her from the shelter and rushing her into our care.

A veterinary exam confirmed a fractured front leg that would need careful treatment and close monitoring. Her leg was stabilized in a splint that had to be changed weekly so doctors could track how the bone was mending, and she was started on multiple medications to manage her pain and prevent complications. There was no guarantee splinting alone would be enough. If the fracture did not heal correctly, she was facing surgery to repair the bone properly, along with continued imaging, medications, and weekly veterinary visits for as long as it took.

She was also impossibly small through all of it. At one weigh-in this brave girl was just 1lb 4oz, so tiny that her first cast turned out to be too big and was actually limiting her movement. Once she was refitted with a properly sized cast, everything changed. She grew more comfortable, started using her leg the way she was meant to, and stayed on pain medication twice a day while her body did the slow work of healing. Every single day she showed us the kind of strength and determination that no one could have expected from a kitten her size.

That determination carried her all the way to the ending we hoped for. Pimento Cheese has been adopted. After everything this sweet soul survived, there is no better news we could bring you. To the family who opened their home and their hearts to her, thank you for choosing love.

None of this would have been possible without you. Every share, every kind word, and every contribution helped carry Pimento Cheese from a shelter kennel with a broken leg to a home where she will spend the rest of her life safe, warm, and loved. Thank you for being the reason stories like hers get to have a happy ending.
