Buba

Buba, alongside another dog named Babu, was a victim of one of the most horrifying cruelty cases our team has ever encountered. But now, they are in the hands of a trusted family that’ll love them for many years to come. For what was speculated to be over a year, these two dogs endured repeated abuse at the hands of the person who was supposed to care for them. A brave woman who documented what was happening refused to stay silent, and when the report reached us, we immediately traveled for hours to rescue them. The man responsible was arrested and placed under investigation, but Buba and Babu were left to carry the physical and emotional weight of what had been done to them.

At the veterinary hospital, the extent of their trauma became clear. Buba was terrified of men, panicking at sudden movements, loud noises, and male voices, her body showing severe evidence of swelling, painful abrasions, cystitis, and anemia. Babu, a sweet senior dog, arrived with his own injuries and trauma, also anemic and in need of intensive supportive care. Their healing would never happen quickly, not after everything they had endured together.

Throughout their recovery, we hoped Buba and Babu could eventually be adopted together, having survived so much side by side. But once Buba's heat cycle ended, it became clear they weren't bonded the way we had hoped, and for their safety, they could no longer stay together.

Buba has now been adopted by one of our own supporters into a loving family. She has two canine sisters, a home to live in, and a couch to call her own. For the first time, she gets to know what love, safety, and respect truly feel like. Babu remains in our care, working closely with a trainer to build his confidence and socialization so that he, too, can find the home he deserves.
