This said to be 25 year old horse was reported to Defensa yesterday by the Rincón police. Defensa called PintosRUs who administer two IV within the last 24 hours before we could arrange transport to donated Defensa Land. ABUELO is now residing on Defensa land - he is one of the most emaciated horses ?we have ever seen. He will be cared for now - which will require a Vet visit, daily feed and land. No donation is too small and every share helps ABUELO and horses like him!

Original Notes From PintosRUs/Julie - We just pulled this Paso Fino stud off the streets in Rincon, Puerto Rico. He was a great horse in his day. I know the original owner. What happened since then is anybody's guess. He is rumored to have been wandering for at least 6 months and was frighteningly dehydrated. We gave him several IV's and put him in an area with fresh plentiful grass. Once he is healthy he will be gelded and looking for a loving home. Please share or donate to his recovery and a brighter future for this old guy.

Success Story - WE ARE CALLING ABUELO A SUCCESS STORY! EVEN THOUGH HE IS STILL FOR ADOPTION!

We will be closing his fundraiser because he really has everything we set out to accomplish for him minus his human family. And well, candidly horse rescue could be considered more challenging than dog rescue because .. in our humble opinion horses differ from dogs in that

. horses are harder to find homes for

. horses require owners with knowledge or commitment to handle them

. horses require land land land

. horses have less of the public that identify with them (therefore, that love them, donate for them, advocate for them, etc.)

. horses give less love (however, they do teach & challenge you more)

The list could probably go on and on .... We are sure you get the point and why we are so thankful for those of you who share, support and donate for our horses. ABUELO was once close to death and today he is healthy, living off a rope, castrated and he has a friend! If you like what we do please share with your friends because the more people we can reach the more horses we can rescue! www.DefensaRincon.org/Hope4Horses
