This is Stormy!

Stormy was found in a garage with his family -- his young adult offspring, as well as the mother to the dogs. All of them were chained up to the ceiling by their collars so they could not lay down.

Stormy got the worst end of the deal. He was cut dozens of times to bleed -- to entice the other dogs to fight.

When Almost Home No Kill Animal Rescue rescued him, he was in danger of losing one of his back legs due to infection. They rushed him to the vet who stitched his many gashes and gave him antibiotics. The vet bill exceeded $9,000. This is where Cuddly (previously poundWISHES) stepped up and helped raise funds. Between Cuddly, Almost Home No Kill Animal Rescue, and the power of social media, the vet bill was paid in full to help this poor boy. It took two months for Stormy to heal enough to be put up for adoption.

And this is where I enter the story. I originally went to Almost Home to adopt one of Stormy's daughters. I met her and several other female dogs. I didn't have that connection with any of them. I went inside to look through the adoptable dog folder. Stormy was in the office keeping the girls company. As I was talking, Stormy jumped up on his hind legs to say hi. In just the 5 minutes I was there, I felt a connection with this boy. I asked if I could see him. No sooner I sat down did Stormy place his front legs on my lap, giving me kisses. I looked up at the Assistant Manager Gina, and said “I think I've just been picked!” I took him home that same day.

I never thought I'd get a male dog...I've always had females throughout my life.

But, he's changed my mind. He's been the absolute, perfect dog!

It took him a good month for Stormy to actually bark at another dog walking by the house. He didn't know how to play. But, now he loves playing fetch with the tennis ball. His favorite toy is his stuffed lamb chop. When we go to the pet store, he gets to pick out his own toy. He absolutely loves people and kids. He loves female dogs, and is fascinated by the little dogs.

After a “ruff” beginning, he has now found his forever home here. He has his own yard, the run of the house, sleeps on the bed, and lounges on the couch. This sweet boy always has to either have a paw on me or half his body on me.

I am so grateful to Almost Home, and to poundWISHES for saving this sweet boy. He truly rescued me.

To celebrate his one year adoption/birthday, I'm creating a gift registry for Stormy. He deserves the best, and if you want to join me in celebrating, please feel free by purchasing one of his favorite treats or toys, which he lovingly goes through quickly!
