Canela

Canela was surrendered to a vet in Tampa after owners claimed that she was running with her mouth open and impaled herself on a metal rod. The rod went into her mouth, down her throat, and into her stomach which damaged her intestinal tract. Puppy Canela was rushed to an emergency surgery which discovered the rod also had a hook on the end.

The Vet and their technicians immediately reached out to rescues to ask for help. Passion 4 Pits Rescue took her in without hesitation and got her in emergency surgery. Tests showed that Canela had Intussusception which is where the intestine telescopes on itself. It was discovered during surgery that her bowel was perforated which is a complication that the vet did not expect. During this complication, the vets had to remove some of her intestinal tracts to repair her bowels. She was touch and go and in critical care for 24 hours.

She was hospitalized for a while and was recovering with a medical foster! This was possible due to her raising over $6000! Once she fully went back to her true self, she also found a forever home! Canella is doing awesome with her new family. She continues to get checkups to make sure that she has no further issues.
