Thomas

Thomas was found in the Germantown section of Philadelphia in late March. Someone passing by saw this poor, emaciated, and clearly injured boy laying on the sidewalk. This person took immediate action by posting to a Facebook community cats group and local volunteers went and recovered Thomas.

Stray Cat Relief offered to take Thomas into rescue and oversee his care. Thomas was admitted to the University of Penn Veterinary Hospital where he stayed in the ICU for 32 days. Thomas had a whole lot of ups and downs and very scary times during his stay at the hospital. No one was prepared for the journey this sweet boy took us all on both financially and emotionally. He was found with trauma to his jaw. It is unsure how he came to be like this but abuse is what his trauma is leaning towards. He was also found with a metal clip in his stomach that had to be surgically removed. His hind legs were wrapped from infectious sores he got because of diarrhea from his treatments. During all of this, Thomas remained such a sweet boy always purring, making biscuits, and wanting love and companionship.

Thomas is still in the midst of his long journey, as he needs two surgeries on his hind legs to help heal the last two wounds. He needs two surgeries because doctors want to be sure the surgery is successful with adding the new skin before moving to the next leg. In addition, he needs his mouth splint removed during one of the surgeries. Thomas went in for his first leg surgery on Tuesday, 6/8, and we are happy to report that it was a complete success! However, the good news doesn't stop there because, throughout Thomas's journey, his nurse fell in love with him and offered to foster to adopt this sweetie!

Because of CUDDLY, $15,000 was raised for Thomas's surgery AND he received so many healing items from his wishlist to aid in his recovery. Pictured is only the beginning of what's coming in the mail for this special boy! And because of that, we cannot thank all of Thomas's supporters enough for proving to him that he's so very loved and worth it!
