Honey was picked up by local rescuers and brought to the shelter where staff looked at her in horror. She spoke no words. But her body spoke so much. As it turns out, Honey was microchipped and so, the staff at the shelter were able to get in contact with her owners - who declared that Honey had escaped from the house after the last major storm. They hadn't seen her since. And they weren't coming now. It's not clear if her owner didn't come for her because she wasn't wanted anymore or because they didn't have the funds to care for her - but either way, Honey was left alone at the shelter and without hope in the world.
Her body...well, it wasn't good. A very fetid odor was coming from her mouth, her body was extremely malnourished, and there was visible scalding of her muzzle and chin. Her coat was also filthy, matted, and covered in debris. To make things worse, she was refusing to eat because of the pain coming from her mouth - a mouth that literally had an infection discharge leaking from it. Thankfully, rescuers from Forgotten to Spoiled Rotten were able to step in for her and. Without a doubt, dental surgery was inevitable and we did learn that her entire jaw bone and nasal passage were necrotic from the prolonged infection, which is just so terrible. She was given a vaccine for the infection and she also gained weight! The BEST news however was… Honey has been ADOPTED! Can you believe it? After everything she went through and all the long weeks of treatment, this girl has found her forever home with a kind woman who is going to LOVE her for all her days.
Big thank you to everyone who made this happen! Honey's life changed for the better because of your support!
