Shepsky

Shepsky was the very first special needs dog to arrive at NorSled Rescue in 2021. This precious pup was in desperate need of help, as she had TWO broken legs (both radius and ulna broken) and projectile metal pieces in her body after being violently shot.  

It was believed that poor Shepsky was shot in the back leg, breaking several bones there, and then went through her front leg, breaking additional bones. Which caused there to be shrapnel and projectile metal in both of her legs. A Good Samaritan found the German Shepherd and Siberian Husky mix wandering around rural Stockton and took her in. After a few days, he realized she was in extremely bad shape, and he turned her over to the local shelter. Shortly after, NorSled stepped in to help and immediately transported her to their veterinary hospitals for emergency surgery. Surgery was performed on two shattered radii, two shattered ulna, and an "ankle". She also had an additional wound on her other back leg, but it appeared to be superficial. The surgery was very expensive but turned out to be a much better alternative than possible amputation. Shepsky was in a solid cast, front and back legs, and needed to be restrained for a little over a month in her loving foster home. 

Even though Shepsky had a long journey with lots of bandage changes, her wonderful CUDDLY supporters aided in her beautiful recovery. She received some of her now new favorite toys, as well as a cozy plaid blanket to aid in her crate rest! She absolutely loves her caterpillar toy and snuggles on her blanket all day long. She also received lots of love and special TLC from her Foster Mom and Auntie Gail!
