This tiny girl is a LUCKY duck. From wandering the streets blind AND deaf to having her happily ever after, she is the epitome of a heartwarming story.
She was found in the Texas heat just walking around in circles...blind and deaf-yes that's right. We cannot imagine the fear, confusion, and physical struggles that she faced on a daily basis. A Good Samaritan thankfully found her and took her to safety to the rescue team. It was discovered that she could have potentially had a heat stroke as well when she was found. It is unclear if she was a lost dog that belonged to someone or if she was dumped and left to die in the heat... either way she needed help ASAP.
Her skin was pretty rough and in the beginning stages of dermatitis/ mange and she had super long nails which told rescuers that she had been neglected for some time. Her bloodwork showed elevated WBC and ALT, but her fecal was negative for parasites. She was put on the appropriate antibiotics and had a follow-up visit to recheck her liver function and she was also spayed. It was discovered that she also had pyometra which could be deadly if left untreated, thus she needed an immediate spay to save her life. Her uterus was almost 3x the size it should have been. She stayed over 24 hours on IV antibiotics and fluids and got to go home to her foster afterward. She was less than 4 lbs and is at least 8 years old so surgery was pretty risky BUT we are so glad she got through it. This little girl just loved to be held and would fall asleep so fast when she knew she was in good hands. We are so thankful she was found - she could have had a much different outcome that is unthinkable.
Good news; Pip was doing AMAZING during her recovery AND she was sent over to her forever family just shortly after! This was all possible thanks to her donors! She was able to raise over $1100 for her care which allowed her to get all of her treatments! Pip has also been adopted and she is finally heading towards the life she always deserved! Thank you to everyone who made this happen! GO PIP!
