Soldier

When we first got Soldier, he had just mustered up enough energy to stumble on a stranger’s porch when it was a frigid 13 degrees outside. On top of that, half of his head was severely mutilated and covered in blood, and his body was swollen with multiple puncture wounds. 

We had no idea who could be so cruel as to leave him in such a ghastly condition, but nevertheless, that was his reality. And despite our shelter being at capacity, we knew we couldn’t turn him down, and we’re so thankful that we didn't. In his initial visit to the vet, we came to the gruesome discovery that Soldier’s body had been shot multiple times and the puncture wounds were the result of countless bite wounds. With these injuries, we instantly knew what he had been through. Poor Soldier had been beaten, tormented, and forced to be bait in a dogfighting ring. 

His road to recovery was not easy as he needed multiple surgeries, but never once did he give up.  Every day he made a conscious effort to fight for his life alongside his incredible foster dad. And with time, his body and soul slowly began to heal, transforming his once-neglected life into one full of endless love. AND, that’s not even the best part. The bond he made with his foster dad officially became FOREVER as he has been ADOPTED!! After everything this boy has been through, it’s only fair that he gets his happy ending and we couldn’t be more thrilled for the both of them!
